The International Studies Program offers a B.A. in International Studies (a Major) and a Minor. The B.S. degree in International Studies is being phased out.
The International Studies Major is designed to combine exposure to a breadth of disciplinary perspectives on a global theme, with in-depth and multidisciplinary understanding of a world region. Majors further strengthen their comprehension of a world region through complementary foreign language training, and an expectation to either study or intern abroad in their world area, or engage in a related U.S. based international internship or experiential education opportunity. A rigorous capstone research experience, conducted in INT 495 during the senior year, integrates the major’s thematic, area, linguistic and experiential knowledge. Within the context of the International Studies major, students can tailor their coursework to fit their personal goals and career objectives.
The International Studies Minor is designed to enhance a student’s primary program of study. The minor is most valuable when it represents courses not already applied to another major or minor.
