Study Abroad in Italy: Vivere L'Italia: Between Ancient Myths and Modern Film Vivere l'Italia (Living Italy) is a six-week program based in Rome and select locations in Southern Italy. The courses will engage the students in a 360 degree exploration of Italian culture by analyzing how classical myths and modern cinema contributed to reflecting and shaping Italian culture. Students will study the mythology of the ancient Greeks and Romans while visiting archaeological remains and works of art from antiquity to modernity that draw inspiration and motifs from it (i.e. the paintings in the Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii and Bernini's Apollo and Daphne). Students will watch and analyze important Italian films (i.e. Fellini's La Dolce Vita and Sorrentino's La Grande Bellezza), and visit some of the locations where scenes were shot (i.e. the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, etc.), with particular attention to their historical, cultural and cinematic significance. The program page of our UK faculty-led program Vivere l'Italia: Between Ancient Myths and Modern Films is now accepting applications!
