About

The University of Kentucky’s International Studies Program offers a major that will help undergraduate students to become globally aware, culturally knowledgeable, and to develop skills for living and working in international and multicultural settings. Courses taken by International Studies majors are drawn from across the University of Kentucky. Faculty teaching directly in the International Studies Program come from the College of Arts and Sciences’ humanities and social science disciplines, including languages. The faculty bring a wealth of linguistic, thematic, and regional expertise to their teaching. International Studies is a popular major, in which students pair a Thematic Concentration (Culture and the Arts or Global Development or Comparative Politics and Societies) with a focus on one of the major world regions (the Area Concentration) in line with their interests and goals. If you are curious about the world, want to work internationally, love to travel and like to think beyond and across disciplinary boundaries, you should consider becoming an International Studies major.
